CPI (M) stages protest, demands expulsion of Mukesh from Lok Sabha

Over 100,000 people participated in the protest, led by CPI (M) general secretary Sitaram Yechury.

The party is demanding the expulsion of Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Ajay Kumar Mishra's son, Ashish Mishra, from the Lok Sabha.

The Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI (M)] staged a massive protest in New Delhi on Thursday, demanding the expulsion of Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Ajay Kumar Mishra's son, Ashish Mishra, from the Lok Sabha.

The protest was led by CPI (M) general secretary Sitaram Yechury and attended by over 100,000 people.

Ashish Mishra is accused of mowing down protesting farmers in Lakhimpur Kheri, Uttar Pradesh, in October last year.

  • The protesters demanded the immediate arrest of Ashish Mishra.
  • They also demanded the resignation of Ajay Kumar Mishra from the Union Cabinet.
  • The CPI (M) has been at the forefront of the protests against the Lakhimpur Kheri incident.

The party has accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led government of protecting Ashish Mishra.

The Supreme Court is currently hearing a petition seeking the cancellation of Ashish Mishra's bail.
